Down to My Place
Copyright © 2015 by Bruce Muckala
BRUCE MUCKALA lead & backing vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion - PAUL HAGY electric guitars - RANDY LANDAS bass - HALEY & MARIN hand claps & whoo-hoos

You might know every side of me
I bet you don’t know maybe two or three
But nobody really knows anyone
Everyone’s got a recipe
I’m cooking up mine and giving you a treat
I’m counting on you to say if its over done.

I’m running you down to my place
Giving you room in my space
Shaking it down with no trace
I’m running you down to my place
We’ll share the cost and you can be the boss.

Staying up late is my cup of tea
I’m telling you now that’s a guarantee
Somebody said, “That’s how to get things done.”
Running downtown to the grocery
Everybody’s giving you the third degree
I’m counting on you to say I’m your only one.

Headed for the Rain
Copyright © 2015 by Bruce Muckala
BRUCE MUCKALA lead & backing vocals, acoustic guitars, piano, organ - PAUL HAGY electric, baritone & slide guitars - RANDY LANDAS bass - PETE GENEROUS drums

Every time I think life’s so sweet
I climb that hill and its not so steep
One thing that you always find
We’re all we got so we gotta be kind
And I realize I’ve got more time
I got things that I wanna do
But I’ll remember to think of you
This road is taking me to where I need to be

I’m headed for the rain
I’m headed for the rain
There’s nowhere to hide
And I say I don’t mind
I’m headed for the rain

Every time I take a look these days
No wonder things change in the strangest ways
Some pray for rain its true
If I knew better it would make me blue
And I realize just like paradise
Dark clouds can hide the sun
A little rain never hurt no one

Home Again
Copyright © 1982, 2015 by Perry Windecker & Bruce Muckala
BRUCE MUCKALA lead & backing vocals, acoustic guitars, piano - JAMIE LANG electric guitars - RANDY LANDAS bass - PETE GENEROUS drums

I'm tired of waking up in the cold
Take a glance at my face in a mirror and see that I'm getting old
Speeding time and wasted time carried me away
I need to find some peace of mind these days

Home, I need a home again
A place to rest my soul, not just my head
Home, I'm going home again

A man can break or he can bend
Walking down a narrow road that seems to never end
All this time it feels like I’ve been wrestling with a ghost
I’m gonna head to the ones I love the most

Passing by electric lines stretching along the highways
Singing songs of drifters and loners running sideways

Always looking for something more
I've seen the same billboards and barns a thousand times before
The evening sun reflecting down carries me away
I'm gonna find some peace of mind these days

Patsy Cline Life
Copyright © 2015 by Bruce Muckala & Michael Vlahakis

BRUCE MUCKALA lead vocal, keyboard (accordion) - PAUL HAGY acoustic guitars, dobro, bouzouki - TROY ENGLE fiddle - RANDY LANDAS bass - PETE GENEROUS drums & percussion

It ain't like I wanted it this way
And it ain't like she ever said she'd stay
It don't seem right, she won't give me no say
And she says it's gonna be, gonna be this way

When she leaves it's always a Patsy Cline night
Now she's gone I'm livin' my Patsy Cline life
Lonely in the rain I go out walking after midnight
She leaves, she leaves me with my Patsy Cline life

Maybe her man, he don’t even exist
Still she says that I might be on his list
If she don't leave on time she's sure she'll be missed
And I ain’t so sure I’ll keep on, keep on taking this

Cocaine can't be no worse for me
Benzedrine makes it harder to see
A two-dollar gun at the end of the street
I’ll be taken away with no one, no one, no one to grieve

Perfect Blue Monday
Copyright © 2015 by Bruce Muckala

BRUCE MUCKALA lead vocal, acoustic guitars, piano

Perfect blue Monday
The sun always seems to shine
Inside my window at quarter to nine
Daylight shining
With rumors of glory
But I think I’ll just stay in bed

Perfect blue Monday
Clean sheets always feel so fine
Under the covers beneath the water line
Blue blue Monday
Like sitting on cloud nine
I think I’ll just stay in bed

After the sun leaves town
And time drags and drags
I’ll catch the rays floating down

Perfect blue Monday
Its available for free
I might get moving, who knows, we’ll see
I may be lazy
But it doesn’t concern me
Think I’ll stay in bed

Three Times is Too Much
Copyright © Bob Wynkoop

BRUCE MUCKALA lead & backing vocals, acoustic guitar, organ, percussion - TROY ENGLE pedal steel guitar, dobro - BOB WYNKOOP electric guitar, backing vocals - RANDY LANDAS bass - PETE GENEROUS drums

One time is enough
All lovers have times that get tough
Twice feels like a crutch
But three is way too much

The first time tied me in knots
We lost some good things we sought
The second time you should’ve learned
You paid out most of what you earned

Three times is too much
Yes, three times is too much
The third time will make the chance too hot to touch
I know three times is too much

Like a ball game there ain’t no doubt
Its three strikes and you’re out
And such is life or so it seems
That same old field of dreams

I’ll give you some advice
We went through all this twice
A third time would bring us ruin
This ain’t no honeymoon

Show Me the Way
Copyright © 1978 by Bruce Muckala

BRUCE MUCKALA lead & backing vocals, organ - JAMIE LANG electric guitars - CHRIS AMES acoustic guitar - RANDY LANDAS bass - PETE GENEROUS drums - TONY WACHTER backing vocals

If I could take you by the hand
And walk with you for seasons
Love leading the way
I wouldn't mind giving my love to only you
Take me on a journey
Show me the way

I came to you just like I am
And I was not forsaken
Your love's here to stay
I couldn't find nobody to take your place
Take me on a journey
Show me the way

When times seem uncertain I look, you're there
Filling my life with your loving care

When I was lost and searching in vain
You came and gave me peace
Now what can I say
I couldn't find nobody else to take your place
You take me on a journey
Show me the way

Not the One
Copyright © 2015 by Bruce Muckala

BRUCE MUCKALA lead & backing vocals, electric guitar, piano, keyboards (accordion) - JAMIE LANG Hammond organ - RANDY LANDAS bass - PETE GENEROUS drums

Who was right and who was wrong
Makes no difference ‘cause I can’t go on
Day and night it goes on endlessly
Nothing new under the sun
No one can tell you what’s on your plate
Something just told me its much too late

I am sorry I am not the one
I am sorry I am not the one
I am sorry I am not the one
The one for you

Thread the needle, get it done
There’s no winner ‘cause it can’t be won
All I’m seeing is there’s no remedy
Drag this out until the dawn
I’m tired of hearing just one more try
If I could do it why wouldn’t I

Don’t make that same old mistake again
Mistake your friends for some lovers who pretend

See it coming, the morning sky
No longer distant still no goodbyes
Meanwhile there’s a new psychology
Taking a break for awhile
Your eyes betray you, still holding out
But I’m gonna tell you there is no doubt

Take You Home
Copyright © by Hano Janssens

BRUCE MUCKALA lead & backing vocals, piano - PAUL HAGY electric guitars - CHRIS AMES acoustic guitar - RON BRAULT backing vocals - RANDY LANDAS bass - PETE GENEROUS drums, percussion

If you want to go out riding
Riding with me by the sea
Come on angel, so inviting
Have a little faith in me

If you want to go out riding
All along the silver beach
Come on sugar, don't be frightened
I just want to take you home

I can see us in the moonlight
Dancing slowly in the sand
Come on darlin’, feel the lightning
I just wanna take your hand

I’ve been dreaming, I’ve been hoping
You and I might get along
Come on, come on, let’s ignite it
I would never do you wrong

Amelia Take Me Away
Copyright © 2015 by Bruce Muckala

BRUCE MUCKALA lead vocal, acoustic guitars

A long time ago when we both were five years old
The rhythm in our rhymes
Like a tapestry of time
How you gonna see what you meant to me
Back in those days when we were free

Amelia down by the river
Amelia so cold we shiver
Amelia take me away
Amelia shake and shiver
Amelia down by the river
Back to our sweet yesterdays

The light’s on by the door, can’t stay out any more
They call me inside
I wish that we could hide
You can be my best friend, I’ll be your pal until the end
Dry your tears and we’ll pretend

A kite in a tree, a message left for me
Everything was fine
Then things went out of line
You were moving away, I had something left to say
Can’t find the words at that age

I never can explain the roots that still remain
I carry you about
You’re the bottle that pours me out
Always in your prime, companion of mine
All those years, all that time

Footprints
Copyright © 2015 by Bruce Muckala

BRUCE MUCKALA lead vocal, acoustic guitars, piano - TROY ENGLE pedal steel guitar, mandolin - RANDY LANDAS bass - JIM McCARTY drums

Oh Captain tell me what am I gonna see
Will the cannon be screaming, will we die in the breech
Please tell my daddy he can be proud of me
Now the sun's in the west and I'm heading east

Mary you're still so pretty
And Mary you're still so young
This morning I was dreaming I was half way home
This evening my footprints are gone

When I left Minnesota I told you not to cry
But one look at this ground, this ain't no place to die
Those poor boys from Dixie got the devil in their eyes
Like playing with lightning tryin' to blow us sky high

Gone are the days when we sat beneath that tree
Gone like the leaves that float on the breeze
I hate this every man against every man
Every man against every man
Every man against every man

Oh sister tell me what am I gonna see
Will the water be deep where the river runs free
Help me cross over I can't fall on my knees
We're all equal now and we're all heading east
